Why I love Ignite

So it’s time for another Ignite. I’ve gone from attending Ignite Phoenix 2 to volunteering to help on Ignite Phoenix 5. Why? Because I believe that Ignite is a fantastic way to bring the community of Phoenix together and showcase some of the amazing things people here are doing, thinking and saying. It’s a way to bring diverse points of view together and facilitate dialog which otherwise wouldn’t happen.

A healthy society relies on the respectful interaction between different ideas, even ideas which are at odds with each other. Ignite lets this happen, not only by exposing the audience to the ideas and passion of the 18 presenters, but by bringing 400+ attendees together for a social event. These kinds of events are especially needed here in Phoenix, where the wide spread of the valley makes it too easy for people to live without actually interacting with others. Getting people talking and interacting is the hallmark of Ignite. These are the sparks which quite literally ignite new things to happen in Phoenix.

Tomorrow, Ignite Phoenix 5 is going to be incredible. Probably even heckarad. See you there!

I've been helping Charlene Kingston with the social media aspect, and I'll be in the lobby assisting people before the event starts tomorrow. See you there!
