“Inquisitive” is the word of the weekend
TweetGeek Week AZ wrapped up this weekend with PodCamp AZ 2009. After all of the Geek Week activities, my brain is full. Full of really good stuff, but now I need some time to let it all mingle and sink in.
Some interesting things happened at PodCamp. Of course, I expected to meet some great people and experience great presentations and all of that occurred. But the session in which the best discussion occurred was Brent Spore‘s about “The Social Universe”, spawned from his recent blog post.
To people who feel that they’re not able to find out about events such as PodCamp AZ, or that there needs to be outreach to such people, I echo Yuri Artibise‘s sentiment: “Every community has a price of entry. Social media’s is inquisitiveness.”
Here’s some great inquisitiveness which happened this weekend: my friends WO and Jessica carpooled down to PodCamp with me because they wanted to see what PodCamp was all about. They’re the other side of the coin from people who gripe about not knowing what’s going on. WO’s a busy guy with a job, a family and he lives in Surprise, but he really wanted to come to PodCamp and he made it happen. Jessica doesn’t have a car, but she really wants to become more involved in the social media community, so she found a way to get to PodCamp and participate. Neither of them bitched about not being told about PodCamp. They heard about it, they came and they were inspired. End of story.
