Who’s in your village?

We’ve all heard the phrase “It takes a village to raise a child.” We’ve heard it so much it sounds like a tired cliché.

But it’s true.

In my case, it’s going to take a village to not only raise a child, but to raise a fairly clueless guy to be a decent father. But what is a village these days?

In a city of any size, you get to choose your village. You can decide who you’ll spend time with, which influences you’ll be exposed to and whose opinions you’ll listen to. You get to choose who’s in your village. I feel very fortunate to have chosen a great village.
